Faith Community Church in South Boston, VA is seeking a part-time Worship Leader to lead our congregation in Christ-centered, biblically faithful, and musically excellent worship.
Position Overview
The Worship Leader is responsible for leading this non-denominational church in Christ-centered, biblically faithful, and musically excellent worship that glorifies God and edifies the congregation.
At a minimum, this requires being on-site for Sunday morning worship and one weekday evening rehearsal. Additional remote work is required to accomplish the responsibilities listed below.
Responsibilities
- Lead the congregation in corporate worship through music, Scripture reading, and prayer.
- Plan and coordinate worship services in partnership with the Pastor, ensuring song selections and service elements align with the sermon and theological convictions of the church.
- Develop and maintain a repertoire of songs that are biblically sound, theologically rich, and congregationally singable.
- Occasionally introduce new music while maintaining familiar songs for the congregation.
- Foster a culture of worship that is Christ-centered, participatory, and not performance-driven.
- Shepherd worship team members, encouraging spiritual growth and unity.
- Schedule and lead weekly rehearsals to prepare for Sunday services and special events.
- Model a lifestyle of worship and personal devotion to Christ.
- Work closely with church leadership to ensure worship aligns with the church’s mission, vision, and theological convictions.
- Ensure that lyrics, slides, and media are prepared and accurate for each service.
- Oversee the church’s audio/visual ministry, ensuring sound and video quality support the worship experience.
- Manage the worship ministry budget, equipment, and resources responsibly.
Qualifications & Requirements
- A male with a mature, growing relationship with Jesus Christ, marked by humility, integrity, and love for God’s Word.
- A strong theological foundation and agreement with the church’s doctrinal statement.
- Musical proficiency in vocals and at least one instrument (e.g., guitar or piano).
- Experience in leading congregational worship and developing worship teams.
- Ability to shepherd, disciple, and lead others spiritually and musically.
- Familiarity with modern and traditional worship styles, with discernment in song selection.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Preferred (but not required)
- Understanding of sound systems and worship software (e.g., ProPresenter).
- Bachelor’s degree in music, worship ministry, theology, or a related field.
- Seminary or theological training.
- Experience in pastoral ministry or church leadership.
Compensation
The Worship Leader will provide contracted services for FCC. Salary is currently $312/week, which also covers routine travel time and travel expenses to/from South Boston.
